Go Kart Kits make a great project if you are buying one to build a
go kart to your own specs. If you are buying a go-kart kit to save
money then you are probably better off buying a complete ready to run
go kart as buying the new kit and the engine, clutch etc and paying
shipping on all of them will work out about the same price if you
know where to shop
The first decision you must make is your go kart kit going to be
prewelded or unwelded, most go-kart kits vary in price considerably,
prewelded usually costing you an extra 30% or so on top of the
unwelded go cart kit price.
Unwelded Go-Kart Kits
If you want an unwelded go cart kit then you will need a mig welder
or access to one and the experience to operate one, if you are
asking a buddy to weld it for you then take into account the amount
of hours you will need him for the job.
Buying or hiring a mig welder to weld your kit definately cancels
out any money you may have saved buy buying a kit in the first place.
Welded Go Kart Kits
If this is a project with your kids then perhaps you should buy a
complete welded kart kit as putting it all together is still a great
project for you all, with lots of interesting things to learn and do.
I found building our go kart together a special time for me and my kids
it will remain a fond memory forever.
It's a great way to pull them away from those palystations and xbox's
and as they ride it as often as they can it keeps them outdoors a lot
more than before.
If you are buying full go karts kits then ensure that the seller
has all of the parts you need to complete the project.
Remember buying gokart kits and parts from your local dealer is going to
cost you nearly double the price of buying from a reputable
internet source, and as the dealer often has to get the part in, the
time waited for shipping makes no difference.

will be more expensive than using scrap materials, but you
will probably have a sharper looking end product, although
the quality or look of a go cart is not why all people build their own.
Go kart kits are great for those who want to save time by
not having to search for the building materials, but some
people still prefer getting all done themselves, completely
